I was reading in a small devotional book about grief and came across this entry and had to share it with you.
In John 11 we read about Martha's struggle between her feelings and what she knew to be true. She was grieving because her brother Lazarus had died. When Jesus spoke with her, she told Him that she believed in a future day of resurrection. But then Jesus took her a step further and helped her to find comfort by focusing on Him rather than just on a future event. He declared, "I am the resurrection and the life". This led her to confess her faith in Him. Her new focus on Him must have helped her because she then went to her sister Mary and told her to come to Jesus.
It's wonderful to know that because Jesus died for our sins and rose from the grave we can look forward to a day of resurrection. But it's even more comforting to know and trust the One who is the resurrection and the life. He is present with us
today to comfort,
reassure, and strengthen us through all our cirmcumstances (Matt 28:20)
Now if I can learn to have the patience for that day of resurrection. Some days I have a better resolve then others. Then there are days that I am literally quoting scripture and praying to myself on a minute to minute basis because I just cannot believe that this is my life. God is giving us each day the grace we need. I am still so thankful for my dear family and friends who continue to realize that we are so early in this journey and they are here for us lifting us up on good and bad days.
Next entry will have a picture...I promise! Cadence birthday is Monday, May 7. That will be exactly 6mths since Lindsey went to Heaven. We can have a reason to celebrate on that day, Cadence is here and she is a joy and we can celebrate that Lindsey is not dead, she is alive in Christ.
Ok, tears are starting so I need to go.
