A special year!

As Cadence turns five, this will prove to be a year filled with new things for Cadence and a few difficult ones for Mom & Dad. We are so blessed to have an amazing child who loves life and seems not to be too affected by the fact that she is now the same age as her sister Lindsey was when she went to heaven. Sure she has questions, and we assure her that just because she is five does not mean that she necessarily gets to go to heaven this year too. Of course in her mind (and in reality) that would be an awesome thing, to get to go to heaven and be with Jesus and her sister.

We have had some milestones. We took Cadence to the pediatric cardiologist (Lindsey's heart doc), just as a precaution since she is now five. We are thankful that Cadence's heart is normal! Then we took her for orientation at her school - the same school that Lindsey attended. That was a big step of faith, but we are trying to focus on how exciting this all is for Cadence, not on the short time that Lindsey was a student there.

The most exciting and wonderful milestone is that Cadence asked Jesus into her heart! We have always been very open about talking about what Jesus did for us on the cross and, ever since Lindsey's death, we talk even more about heaven and the 2nd coming of Christ, when He will return and take all those who believe with Him to be together forever. So this past Sunday, we did not think it was unusual when the whole lunch conversation was about what Jesus did for us and how to be "saved". Well this time, she would not let it go, so we kept talking about it and kept talking about it until she wanted to accept Jesus in her heart and ask him to forgive her sins! How amazing it is to see the faith of a child. She believes and what a wonderful party went on in heaven on Sunday. I am sure Lindsey was so excited that her sister gave her life to Jesus!!

What a touching post. Cadence, I am so excited that you have trusted Jesus . . . and that you turned five like Lindsey and got to go to orientation at school . . . and that you'll be getting another sister soon! What a year for you!

Good to "hear" from you again on the blog, Laura. Miss you!
